The Animation Stand - Text 5
While this apparatus could by all means have been designed to be horizontal, one sees the time savings the vertical disposition afforded, with respect in particular to placing drawings beneath the camera. This prevented the illustrations from slipping off their support, and in particular facilitated the superimposition of several visual strata. At the same time, this multiplication of decor elements, beyond the perspectival effect it gave rise to, once again made possible the division of labour. Since the 1910s, this had been a major issue in the production of the drawings themselves.
