Sound - Text 4B

This led Mitchell to present yet another evolution of its 35 mm camera in 1934. The new Mitchell featured an entirely redesigned body meant to function as a blimp integrated into the camera itself. This new approach to soundproofing had two main advantages: it led to a more compact camera rig, and provided the camera crew with ready access to all the controls and settings. Camera operators and their assistants did not have to open the blimp anymore when they wished to do such elementary operations such as focusing the lens or setting the aperture. The only operation that required the crew to open the camera case was loading the magazine. One additional change was that the turret was replaced by a single lens mount on the front of the soundproof camera body.
