Encounters Between Electronic Music and Orchestras in Cinema - Text 8
As can be heard in the clip, Zimmer’s music intrudes on the dream while Piaf’s song plays in reality. An analysis of the musical elements shows that the tonality and tempo are the same for the two pieces, the note that is held also being present, although lower in pitch, in Zimmer’s music. With the exception that the rhythmic trombone accompaniment is a third the speed, shifting from a triplet of eighth notes to a quarter note.
