Loudspeakers and Digital Immersion - Text 4
Another effort which lasted for only a few films: sensurround. As its name indicates, various loudspeakers surrounded the spectator. The preferred genres were disaster films and war films, including Earthquake (Mark Robson, 1974), Midway (Jack Smight, 1976) and Battlestar Galactica (Richard Colla, 1978). A total of thirteen films were produced with this system, which amplified bass sounds so that spectators in the 1970s could vibrate in a state of immersion.
