Montage in German Silent Cinema - Text 2
This anecdote demonstrates that the foregrounding of montage as an aesthetic technique par excellence went hand in hand during this period with the high regard in which Soviet films, as politically committed artworks, were held. Drawing on these films, Albrecht Viktor Blum was the first author, in the December-January 1928-29 issue of Film und Volk, to explicitly describe his short documentary films as Montagefilme.
