As editing has become almost comprehensively digital – and film “material” exists now in the non-linear space of the computer – one may use editing software to do much more than “edit.” Other elements may be easily added – sounds, music, other pictorial components (photographic or computer-generated), graphic material, titles, designs, and so on. Digital software allows for the consolidation of many of the once separately undertaken tasks of filmmaking.
