As can be seen from these photographs, however, this method can be used only when using transparent film stock. These sounds are made possible by the painting on film stock technique, and choosing transparent film has an impact on the techniques which make it possible to obtain sounds from the optical track. Using opaque film changes the artist’s working methods.
