The Perception of a Shorter Length of Time through the Use of a Rapid Tempo - Text 3
Narrative music in the background, providing the contours of the scene
In Quentin Dupieux’s Incredible but True (Incroyable mais vrai, 2022), the music by Johann Sebastian Bach, humorously distorted by Jon Santo using synthesisers (intensifying beyond reason the different nature of the various voices), confers, with its energetic counterpoint and its off-the-wall sonorities, both impetus and central theme (the mystery around the tunnel, the opposing resolutions and objectives of the different characters, etc.) whose underlying tensions could have influenced our perception of time.
