Just as on the Bell & Howell 2709, the camera body incorporated a viewfinder located to the side of the gate. With the Mitchell the taking lens did not rotate between the viewfinder and the gate; rather, the camera body shifted to the side to allow the taking lens to be placed in front of either the viewfinder or the gate.
