This new feature might not have been as essential to studio cinematographers as it was for newsreel camera operators[5] or, soon, documentary filmmakers, yet it was enthusiastically embraced. The advantages of the turret equipping the 2709 went beyond time saving. The turret also enabled the creation of a new type of viewfinder coupling the lens situated at 180º from the taking lens with an eyepiece.
