The involvement of these important players in the development of the Éclair 16 camera enabled the young company to quickly attract cinema and television professionals to it. Beauviala relied on both the extensive address book of former Éclair employees and the support of a few filmmaker friends, such as Jean Rouch, to establish Aaton’s reputation, which already benefitted from a degree of notoriety among film professionals before the first camera was marketed.
