This system was not used by McLaren alone: André Leduc also used it for his film La bague du tout nu (1974), which is a good example of the continuity found in the techniques used for drawing on film animation. At the same time, however, as Pierre Hébert points out, “that is only valid for transparent film stock. With black leader, which is opaque, it is by definition impossible to use such a technique. And here arises a major problem: how to ensure proper registration of the images one is drawing? How to ensure continuity from one image to the next?”^[2]
